W10HW2 Chapter 18

Some of the 4 things I feel like would help us complete the project is by revising, proof reading, research, and formulating a front, body and conclusion. These will help us to better complete the project because all of these options help with making the project cleaner and easier to read. It also helps us to better able find the mistakes that we have so we can correct them and provide additional information that helps make the project a lot better. I know that we are gonna have to proof read a lot of it because of all the information that we are gonna have to use to finish this project. I am especially bad at organizing a lot of information together so being able to revise and proofread will help get this project done a lot easier.

As I worked through this project I realize just how important it is to  expand my knowledge in my field of work.This is because it is not just going in and helping people but also how I can expand my knowledge to other people. When I did my research on infographics I came to realize that I can better help people if I can inform them in a way that is understandable and easy to follow. In my field of social work we are about helping others in need and in my field specifically it has to do with kids and families. In my time of researching what kind of visualization my field of work does I came to realize how important infographics actually are. They help to provide information on specific topic with the use of pictures and little summaries. This helped me gain more knowledge in how I can use this to better myself as an individual. I am the kind of person that wants to make a difference in this world and being able to use this type of information is going to help me achieve that dream.What I feel like I did not like about the project though was the annotation. Though it is important to inform people where you get your information from I feel like if you are going inform people about the information you want to give them it is more important for them to go look for the information themselves. However, this has it downside as I feel it can lead people astray with what information is true and what information is false. Overall, this project has helped me a great deal in my ever expanding determination to better understand my line of work as a whole.

Other cases that infographics are use is to bring awareness to everyday problems. This does not limit to the problems of kids being abused but also could help bring awareness to other problems. Some of these can be problems with intimate violence. Showing the reality in which people lives are going through can help them find people to help them. Getting the resource needed to be able to get a life better for themselves is an ultimate goal for social workers. Sometimes they do not want to get the help but knowing the fact that their are people out there to provide any sort of help can be beneficial. Using infographics with different types of resources that are available and present it in a way that will give these people hopes is helping to make the world a better place.

Other ways in which infographics are use is to bring awareness to the community. This helps extend the awareness to more variety of complications. When a whole community get involve many people that are having a difficult time can get the resource needed with this type ofinformation is spread throughout the community. Some people do not have access to the help they need and other times do not want to get the help they need. Having a community in which they are welcome in open arms helps build a better life for any individual in need. With the use of infographs able to be used in a variety a ways really shows how strong it can be in the social work field.

What I like about the new sentences is that I ellaborated more on where the everyday problems can take place than just saying everyday problems. Typing about the community is a great aspect of what a social worker works with and changing it in this way is what I like most.

Some of the issues that were commonly needing to be revised are things that are relevant to my info-graphics topic. I will need to find better articles that explain more on how infographics are used in my field.

W8HW4 Reflect on PR

Something I have learned while peer reviewing is finding out different ways in which I can write in my project. After reading other peoples projects I came to realize I have quite a bit of things I can improve on such as the things I can write and elaborate on.I can use this to create better sentences in my project.

With my field of study the type of information we gather and the people we gather it from we will have to get consent. Due to the majority of the data needed to create a visual data comes from people we have to get consent. We also have to make sure that the data does not disrespect people of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender.

These types of visualization is used after doing extensive social experiments or surveys my field. It is is used to help visualize the most important data collected while doing different experiments or surveys. some of the ethical issues that might come up is the acceptance of other people that the data will be collected from. Since most of the data is collected from people, not knowing if they would allow it can upset other people.

For my field of study the most appropriate style of format for my writing is APL style. It is seen as more professional and overall organized for the type of reports that will be needing to be made. It is used for making professional reports for important tasks.

Why graphics are important to my field

Some of the reasons why graphics and visualization are important to my field of study is because it helps us to express the importance of helping families and other peoples. I want to be a social worker for kids in foster care and being able to show the importance of helping these families that are going through this process will help bring awareness on how important it is. I also feel it is important because you can also inspire other people by showing visually how rewarding an experience it is to work in this field of study.

W6HW1 Chapter 6 Info about Your Field

My career choice is to be a social worker and  it has some large professional organizations. Some of these organizations which is some of the largest include ANSWER, Council of Social Work Education, and National Association of Social Work.

The three important journals that social workers organizations have read are The Common Factors Model: Implications for Trans theoretical Clinical Social Work Practice, The Strengths Perspective in Social Work Practice: Extensions and Cautions, and the Actor-Centered Social Work: Re-visioning “Person-in-Environment” through a Critical Theory Lens.

Some of the three important online discussions or bulletin boards are the National Institute of Health Directory of Listserv Discussion Groups, Child Maltreatment Research Email Listserv, and Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA) Listserv. 

Some upcoming events that some of the social work organizations are hosting are, 

CSWE 2016 Annual Program Meeting The 2016 APM will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. March 11-12 – TransCon by Aqua Foundation. Miami, FL, and on March 12 – Co-host League of Women Voters Forum: Open Government and You. Ft. Myers, FL. 

I will describe my research process as pretty difficult as there is so much information on the variety of organizations affiliated with my career. I would like to add that this experience was interested because it opened my eyes with the amount of resource that is out there for my career. If i want to find what I am looking for it will take a great deal of effort to look for it and that is how I felt when I looked up this information.
